Matthew J. Heagen was born in 1965 and is a life long resident of Toms River.  He is pleased to have the opportunity to serve the community in which he was raised.

After high school, he attended Fairfield University School of Business, graduating in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Commencing in the Fall of 1987, he was accepted to the Rutgers School of Law where he graduated, receiving his Juris Doctorate degree in 1990.

In 1990, he was admitted to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and United States District Court and Court of Appeals for the District of New Jersey.  He was later admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

He began his legal career as a judicial clerk to a number of the trial court judges in the Ocean County Superior Court.

Following the judicial clerkship, he entered private practice with a local firm, where he spent the next eight years.  Commencing in 1999, Mr. Heagen created his own firm,  Matthew's practice includes criminal defense, municipal court defense, personal injury, workers compensation, divorce, family law, business law, landlord/tenant disputes, estate planning and administration, probation, real estate transactions.

In 2004, Matthew re-enrolled in the graduate program at Temple University School of Law earning an estate planning certificate in 2006.
